ZZP just released their 1" chain set for pre-order.

"In Stock, Shipps in 1-2 days" "Preorder for September". "Holds more power than 7/8 or 15/16"

All these things leave me wondering. How much power does it hold, does it stretch at certain levels or abuse etc etc? We all know the GMR 800 chain doesn't appear to stretch or have issues over time and the GMR 1200 chain can withstand natural disasters.

Re: GMR 1" Chain 3.29 ratio 3/8" Pitch

ZZP's is 16% stronger than the 7/8 and built the same way. This is rated by GMR for 800whp or approx 300% stronger than the 7/8. A 7/16 pitch GMR is 1200whp.

ZZP's is likely to stretch a bit slower than the 7/8 as it's slightly stronger. In a bit HP build though, GMR is the way to go.

Where did you get that info, Bill?

The ZZP 1" info has found in posts by Zoomer and via ZZP website. The other info is available from the GMR documentation.

Posted the same thing in another post but seeing as there are at leat 3 posts about this ZZP 1" chain solution.

Going to be an epic failure......same design flaws as the 7/8" setups. It's only a matter of time before the ZZP 1" version WILL stretch. Don't get me wrong it will help the frequency of swapping out the 7/8" setups for fresh chains but this isn't going to be a game changer for the 500whp builds.

    Giant waste of a pile money. ZZP 1" = 16% stronger compared to the 7/8" ........GMR 1" = 300% stronger 7/8"

Not sure there is a way that I could ever justify spending $750-$1000 to buy a chain that is still going to be considered a "service item" cause it's still going to stretch. Financially it makes sense to just keep running the 7/8" setup.

Just calling it!!! GMR Morse HyVo "ZX" is by far the superior chain and anyone who's done their research will still spend the ridiculous amounts of money to get a chain that wont be a wear item.

Any links to his posts? I'm just confused why they didn't copy the GMR design, but instead just make a slightly bigger "7/8ths". Judging from the way the GMR handles high HP, one would think it's mostly due to the design of the chain itself, not just the width of the chain.

It's been said that ZZP looked into having the HyVo ZX style chain put back into production but it was too costly to produce. The design and specs are out there and Borg Warner still has everything on file. Just was too costly to produce.....even with ZZP's reported $60k investment.

Do we know what "too costly to produce" is? I have a feeling, even if they still sold for 2k, they would still sell some. I'd buy a GMR chain for $1500-2000 as long as it was brand new. What did the GMR chains go for, new?

ZZP used to sell them for $1000 back when they were still being made.

When Intense built my first trans, 1" was definately $1000 option, 7/8" was $300 or $400 I forget. It was significant and I never planned on modding much.

That's a good deal. Now I really want to know why it's too much to reproduce them. If they sold for 1k, and the plans/specs are still around.

I'm sure Greg can chime in on this more, but I don't think the specs are available.

GM should have them, and Borg/Morse should have them. But, I don't think GM will let them release the design specs or produce any more. So, it would need to be reverse engineered.

I took a set into a machine shop a few years ago, and they wanted $2500 PER GEAR, and had no interest in doing it.
