Hey everybody, I have a 2005 Grand Prix Base with the 3.8 V6 non-supercharged. I have a hole in my lower transmission line, and I have bought some AC-Delco replacements from Rock Auto for both lines. My question is the process on removal and installation as I have never done this before.

From what i understand I need to drop the tranny pan, I bought a new filter as well. Just disconnect the lines and replace. However what tools will I need? Just flare nut wrenches? SAE or Metric?

Will it be easier to remove any additional components to make access easier? If anybody has done this before, I would greatly appreciate a step-by-step rundown of removal and installation.

Also, I have seen some videos talking about a GM quick disconnect tool for the line rather than a flare nut wrench, would this be needed?

You only need to drop the trans pan if you are going to change the filter and fluid.

If you are just wanting to change the lines, you do not need to remove the pan.

There are no special tools needed other than a angled pick for removing the lines from the transmission and radiator.

The lines are just a quick connect like this. Just remove the clip and pop the line out, some fluid will come out, but not alot. Just be sure to clean it up when done. Only pay attention to the first 2 pictures.

Cool Thanks. I am replacing the filter as well so thats why Im dropping the pan. Can I re-use those clips if I take them out with a pick? Ive seen some things saying they can't be re-used. If not, where could I get one without having to order some?
