The 04+ cars should come with the Dex 6 fluid. Maybe someone could chime in about this. Or check your owners manual it will tell you there in the index what fluid then trans was filled with at the factory.

GM started using Dex VI in 2006 model year cars; before that, they used Dexron III. If you want to convert pre-06 cars to Dex VI completely, you would need to take your car to someone who can do a completely fluid exchange. Otherwise, you can drop the pan, which will get ~60% of the fluid out, and refill with Dex VI. After a couple of times you've got mostly Dex VI. I do a pan drop every 30K mi.

yet mixing dexron VI and dexron III is not going to hurt anything vause i figured id just drop the pan and i know you cant get the fluid out of the torque convertor by just droping the pan so i donno

Mixing them is fine. Right now my trans has about 1/3 Dex III and 2/3 Dex VI. After the next change it'll be about 1/9 Dex III and 8/9 Dex VI.

My trans become a much smoother operator. More firm shifts but without banging in to gear. It just feels better in several ways, even more so once I tweaked the trans settings.

It's not made anymore. You can pick them up used, but new price was like $400 so it'll still be expensive. HPTuners will also work but they're equally expensive.

The two credits unlocks it for your car so you can tune it as much as you want.
