I'm working with a trans shop on some bouncing car issues. They thought it was axles at first as they can see movement in them axles while on the rack. That didn't fix it. They took the axle extension out to check for twist or out of true movement. No issues seen. They did note the axle extension was 1/2 inch longer than another W-Body they were working on and it seemed to put more pressure on that sides CV when installed.

Anyone know why GM put a longer extension in some cars?

    It depends on the car.

Take a look at Napa's website for various W bodies because they list asle length. Passenger side is different based on if the car is supercharged or not. The SC has a shorter axle because the diff is bigger and the size of the axle must be shorter.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So I guess I need to ask which axle they bought for the passenger's side when they replaced it... It sounds like they may have mis-matched components now and the car may be suspect. My therapist will love these conversations over my trust issues and why my car still has issues...
