    i ran it so hot the car shut off 4 times. so even if its not the head gasket i imagine i damaged something else. lol

    it just gave me an excuse to buy a gtp. went from a base 3800 se to a fully loaded gtp so i guess it all worked out in the end.

    LOL.. ps...I've stalled them due to overheating. Still didn't hurt anything. The 3800 can be an amazing motor. That aside..I'm not a guy to stand in the way of a dude wanting to upgrade and have more fun. Party on Garth

    The 4T65E diff was different in 1997 than 98+. The difference is that in 97 the output shaft did not have a compression clip to hold the diff to it. It had a circlip. This circlip has to be removed to get the diff off the output shaft and I think maybe the output shaft splines are slightly different as well.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    yeah the 3800 is why i got into these cars, i have owned a lot of different cars but nothing has ever taken the abuse that these engines have. i swear if my engine could talk it would say " is that all you got? " lol
