Or at least on a hoist/trans fixture. I usually do them after the trans is back in the car.
Does your new tranny know about the old one? Be sure to unfriend he/she on FB! Nothing worse than the ex coming back to haunt youSwapping my tranny today... wish me luck!
And yes, as Bill said I would do the filter/fluid once the trans. is back in.
If i have the trans out, it gets mounted to my bench or stand. Id rather stand or sit on my stool than lay under the car being dripped on.
bill has posted pics of his trans stand adapter for a engine stand in the past, looks easy to build if you have some scrap stock and a welder.
maybe he'll see this and post one up. i think he did a write up on it, not sure tho.
Thread jackers! Haha. Ok so the tranny should be here tomorrow so I'll take a bunch of pics while were swapping so maybe someone on here can use them in a write-up or something...
I'll add them where I can to the current one I have in place, if you'd like.
Jason..when ya coming? I'll get one made asap. One additional thing that was added to mine was a notch where the balancing poing is if you lift it with a hoist.
All I did was look at the GM version that costs big $$ anywhere and think...hmmm I can weld two pieces of metal together. Whenever you see a bed frame on the side of the road..grab it.
