I noticed on the highway recently that I get some pretty strong vibrations whenever RPMs go over 3000. Occasionally I'll get some hard shifts too, but it's rare. I checked the transmission fluid and there's no shavings but it's not red either- looks like motor oil with about 1k miles on it.

maybe do a pan drop and filter change?

how do the motor mounts look? They should be shot and cause the vibrations you feel at higher rpms.

yeah check the motor and trans mounts. i've had the dreaded clunk and did the engine mount today. put a zzp poly in and its a great improvement. the factory piece was shredded @ 61k. i'm guessing the trans mount is in even worse shape so i'm ordering that piece too.

I plan on changing the filter soon. As far as motor mounts, I can't really tell. I thought I had some really bad leaks, but upon further inspection it appears whoever maintained the car before I found it didn't know how to use a funnel and spilt every kind of fluid all over the place . So what would you say?

So, Poly engine/trans mounts vs solid mounts; is the benefit worth the massive price difference?

I'd go with solids, for you, you dont want poly mounts.

    'Kay...

I'll be installing a shift kit with the new filter. Should I go with the one on the ZZP site or the Triple Edge?

    ZZP is junk.

    Trans go FTW

You'll need 7-8 quarts of fluid when you swap the filter.

If you can find dexron 3, run that, its what came in the trans from the factory and cheaper than dexron 6. But if not, dexron 6 is fine.

Just make everything is clean when you go to install everything, wipe the magnet in the pan off and clean the metal trans pan gasket, because you will re-use it.

Make your own solid mounts out of so called "solid" stock mounts.
