    Hello,
    I just bought a 01 GT GTP with a bad transmission, problem is its excellent shifting into reverse, put it in drive and it doesnt engauge. Drop it in first it shifts into gear, but once its in first gear then it slips like crazy, i have to be very easy on the throttle and i can get it to go then select second gear and it revs high like its in neutral then drops into second, second gear holds better then first but it kinda surges and slams back into gear then once it is in third gear its great, i can get on it hard and it holds then slip it in over drive and same thing its perfect. 1. any ideas other than add additive its too far gone for that, also the fluid is blood red still, 2. If i need to replace this tranny whats the interchange on theses i know some have a threaded cooler line and some have quick disconnect. but what years will fit in this car and not have a different gear ratios or electrical connections.

    Well the trans is gone, forward band is Most likely gone. Just had my trans rebuilt for the same exact reason. Rebuild is always better in my opinion unless you can find a junkyard trans. Don't know exactly what years fit so hopefully someone can chime in for ya

    Yup, forward band is gone.

    You can find any 97-02 trans and swap them in. I think in 99+ the trans line routings or the fitting changed, but its a easy swap.

    rebuild time, like they stated, main forward chain is most likely broken.

    Id go rebuild before JY trans, as a JY trans may be 10k from its end. never know.

    Chain and band are different. He lost the band.

    will a tranny out of a S/C 98 Buick Regal work? will it still have the same torque converter and ratios?
