I'm currently driving a 2000 Buick regal GS and the trans went out. I had 3 2 1 and reverse but now I just have reverse only I'm clueless if I need a whole trans or what. Any help will be appreciated and I'm pretty hands on so I'm not totally helpless I just need a better understanding

Forward band is gone most likely.

    Needs a full rebuild.

Fluid level and condition? CHeck it with the car hot, running, and on a level surface. Maybe drop the pan to look for metal in it?

Or just give Triple Edge a call!

I'm with this guy. Bet your 4th hub went, followed by your forward band. It's rebuild time.

have you ever rebuilt a transmission? if yes, have you ever built a fwd? if yes, you shouldn't be on GPF.

if no, take it to a reputable shop. if you were in michigan, this would be the point where i segue to convincing you to come to the tranny shop i work.

What exactly makes your shop better than lets say getting one from TEP???

when did i make that claim?

although, the shop owner/builder does have 40 years experience in building. he'll tear down and build a honda AXAN in 5 hours. i only said something because i enjoy pulling 4t65e's. they're cake.

Just because he can build a Honda transmission or whatever an "axan" is, doesn't mean you can build a 4t65e.

I hear this more and more now a days, ppl think just because someone can do something on one make/model, they can do it to them all.

Different model trannys utilize different power levels.. Some can handle a certain amount over others, some are more temperamental and need a certain aspect of rebuilding taken into consideration.

You can use a transmission from 97-02 on any SC'd GP, Regal, Riviera, Bonneville or Park Avenue. The only thing to keep in mind is you will have click style lines and those began in either 99 or 2000. Easy enough to get around, but worth a mention.

As for doing it yourself. Here you go.

So long as you get it from a sc'd gm car from 97-02 everything will work fine except maybe having to change the hose connections at the trans.
