Is the fluid low or miscolored?

A fluid and filter change (don't flush) might be good for it, but I don't think it's going to solve your issue.

It sounds like you may have a problem with line pressure or the torque converter maybe?

Does removing the spare count as weight reduction?

From the description it sounds like the converter isn't locking up.

Your converter isn't locking up all the time then
Does removing the spare count as weight reduction?

I'd ensure everything igniton wise is good first. Check tps and maf.

All that will contribute to TCC lockup kicking in and out etc. High load, low rpm at 70 on our setup. Which means ignition is important.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
