hey guys i dont know much about transmissions so this is why im asking. when driving normally when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd the rpms will bounce up and down only between 1700 and 2100 rpms. no other speed will this happen. its like it shifts then isnt to sure it wants to go to 3rd and then cant decide until i get goin a little more. I do have a transmison oil cooler line (going to the oil cooler) that is leaking a little bit but check the fluid level often and still not low on oil. but will be replacing it probably next week. if you guys could give me your inputs it would be appreciated! thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure your tranny gears aren't gripping right, which is probably from normal wear and tear.

But under hard acceleration it has no problem gripping so would that be because of higher pressure in the lines cuz of higher rpm?

More than likely it's a pressure control solenoid that has gone out. My 2008 was doing that & I took the car to the local dealer that used to sell Pontiacs & they checked the car out & told me when that sensor goes out the torque convertor clutch might have problems engaging due to the bad solenoid. Best bet is to take it to the dealer to have them check it & replace the part. Not sure of the cost though, as mine was still under the 5 yr/100k powertrain warranty.

Have a mechanic scan the car. This could be TPS, MAF, transmission or something else.

I'll put my chips down on vacuum leak. Check the rubber T off the LIM, which is a popular spot for dry rot.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.
