Ive got an 07 GP Base 3.8 no mods 55K miles.

Sometimes after a short drive and a short sit, when driving the car again the RPM's seem to be very high and the car makes a weird humming noise and is hard to steer.

Today while on the highway at 70 mph the car was turning 3300-3500 rpm and had no getup and go even though the engine would rev freely.

Oil looks good, Trans fluid is nice and pink and the car is well taken care of.

Has anyone had this issue before? I am not sure if this could be Trans/Torque Converter related or if it could be catalytic converter related.

    Any thoughts/Questions??

    Thanks.

I plan on taking it in on Friday, but I just wanted to know if I could narrow the possible issues down a bit so I could point the dealer in the right direction.

They enjoy giving the 'We didn't experience the problem while driving it' response without actually looking at anything.

by chance is the abs or trac light on? that could have something to do with the steering, they seem to be connected somehow.

Sounds to me like your ps fluid is low
You have a dirty TB with a sticking tb plate or bad tp position sensor
and... you were in third gear on the highway.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

PS fluid is full and not dirty/dark...

TB is clean just did it a month and a half ago...

The car was in drive, but Over Drive might not be engaging...

Also no lights at this point.

Most trans codes don't throw lights.

@Bryan921SS, I would have to agree with Hippo Machine. Make an appointment with the dealership to have this diagnosed. By doing this, you will be able to find out what is going on and the specifics of warranty about this.
