Hello all, I'm new here and need some trans help. I have a 2003 gtp that has the 3.4 pulley, cold air intake and computer mods have been done. The trans blew and I had it rebuilt along with a shift kit and a 500 rpm over stock convertor. My problem is when the tcs is off and the trans is in drive from a dead stop when it goes to wot it revs up to 4500 to 5000 and slowly pulls! But if I pull it into low manually it blows the tires off and runs great! Is this a computer issue? I hope. Thanks.

You need to check for codes and if possible get ahold of a scan tool to check some trans data. If no scan tool is available then I suggest taking to a shop for a quick diag. If it is trying to take of in 3rd or 4th gear then it will act like this. Check your TCC/Trans fuse in the fuse box and see if it is blown, if it is then you will only have 3rd gear unless you pull it into manual 2 or 1. I have seen a rubbed through wiring harness under the airbox cause this also and the car was trying to take off in 4th gear. It wouldnt throw a solenoid code unless I manually commanded it to shift with the scan tool.

The fuse is ok and there are no codes! It drives around great in drive except if you come to a complete stop and hammer it.

You need to get it diag'd with a scan tool to verify what gear the pcm is commanding AND to manually control the shift solenoids to command the trans in each gear to see what is really going on. Without trying this and watching some data all you can do is guess since the trans is completely electronic controlled.

Well I had the PCM flashed back to stock and it fixed it!!! Don't let any one mess with the PCM unless you know for sure they know what they are doing!

Glad that helped out your problem! 03 cars require 03 specific files as the trans is set up different so who knows what they did but at least that fixed your problem.

Thanks for your help! It seems like everyone I talked to had a different answer. So I went back to when everything started. Yes thats when I had it programmed. Live and learn. Who sells a good performance PCM that really knows what they are doing? Oh I believe I spoke with you on the phone last week. Sometimes I get too many things going at once. It was nice talking to you.
