Im new to this site, but I wanted to post on car website that at least specialize in the car I have rather than a an open post about any Car.

I have a 03 Grand Prix, and I believe im having tranny problems. I notice it only occurs when I'm driving my car all day probably about 6+ hours. When I accelerate when switching to 2nd some times it jerks but the real problem comes when im switching to 3rd the rpms usually go to 3.8-4.1 when Im having this problem but last night it went up to 5k. So im getting pretty worried. While Im having these problems the mph will read about 10-20mph when I know I'm doing about 30-40. Speeding in some casing just to stop the annoying jerking. If I try to just give it a steady amount of gas while going from 2nd to 3rd it will just rev louder n louder until I actually put more force. Any help is greatly appreciated but remember it only happens after I been driving for a while.

Tough to say from your description. But let's assume it's likely to be tune up related.

When was your last tune up? (spark plugs and plug wires)
    What brands were used?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Have you checked the fluid level and condition of the trans. fluid? Is it full? What color is it? Wipe the dipstick on a white cloth to see the true color of the fluid, don't just look at the stick.

If its brown/black and smells burnt you may get away w/ changing the fluid/filter. If not, then I dunno. Do what Bill says then. He's usually right anyways

Platinum plugs get chewed up by our ignition system in record time. 2weeks to a month and you can be misfiring. Especially in a supercharged engine.

Ok so AL606 spark plugs is that the brand Im kinda new its my first car and Ill check the fluid now. and its a 3.1 Engine. The guy i bought it from said he never had the Tranny Flushed and its 150k miles idk if that has anything to do with it but everything is pointing there, Also My Car start jerking earlier and i barley road 60minutes in it. Maybe a vid might help

Tranny Fluid is Brown on the stick more towards black when i wiped it on the white cloth. Fluid smells a little chared,

Ok, first thing is don't take it somewhere and have the trans. flushed. You will be buying a rebuild for sure.

Was the fluid full when you checked it? You have to check it in park, while idleing fully hot on a level surface to get an accurate reading.

At 150K it sounds like the trans. fluid has been neglected. Time for a pan drop and filter change. Drain the converter as well if you can (not sure there is a plug on that one). Then refill and see what you get. Might just be a combo of old fluid and a clogged filter. Does the car whine at all?

Not familiar w/ the 3.1 other than they like to blow gaskets, so I can't help on the plugs for that motor.

I mean when you are driving/ taking off from a stop or going around a corner and accelrate, does the car make an audible shining noise (ever heard your power steering low on fluid? That sound).

I've heard the transmission pump whine when low or starving for fluid due to a clogged filter. No or minimal fluid movement, no forward movement

Sure, go ahead and post that vid. Any info is good info.
