Well I think that I am posting in the right kind of transmission I am not sure it is for my 2001 GTP. The problem that I am haveing is on the highway. When I let off the gas the car seems to shift in to overdrive. If I am going 65mph at 3000 rpm's and let off the gas the car seems like it shifts and goes to about 1000 rpm well the problem is that when I step back on the gas there is nothing till I hit 3000 rpms again. when it is at 3000 rpm I can shift the car to 3rd with the shifter and there is no change. THis sucks. All other gears seem to work perfect stong shifts all the way through. THe car runs and drives perfect otherwise. AN I love the Car so any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like the splines are stripped off the fourth-gear hub shaft.

Yep sounds like your 4th clutch hub splines are stripped. Very common on 97-02 cars.

    Transmissions
Would this be a good trans to buy and just replace it or would it be better to have mine rebuilt

That is our base High Performance trans that will work great into the high 12s in the quarter mile. They are all built with longevity and durability in mind and will last you a good long time. I build them all to match the car and your mod list. Some people prefer a local rebuild over having one shipped to you but that is ultimately your decision and most shops charge quite a bit more than that just for a stock replacement. If you have any other questions you can email me at the email address on our website.
