Ok so im going to pull the trans out of my 97, i have a lift at my disposal, do you guys think it would be easier to pull the motor and trans assembly out, or disconnect the motor and leave it in? i dont have a support brace or anything..so in short is it alot more work to drop everything, or should i seperate it? Anything else to watch out for? Im also changing the rack and pinion while im at it. any comments or tips will be appriciated

if you have a lift you can just hang the engine in the bay and drop the trans, so yes you do have a support method.

there's a lot less to unhook, fuel lines all the wires, exhaust, and all the little things.

the trans just needs the bell housing and the torque converter unbolted, the axles, the sifter cable, trans lines, trans mount, and a few wires.

there's a write up how to do it here. and with the trans out you'll have a ton of room to get to the rack and swap that out with ease.

A 4x4 and chain is all I hang engines from when i swap transmissions. Personally I prefer to take them out the bottom and like you..I don't have a lift.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
