I'd like to run this little conundrum past you lovely folk...

Say I'm backing out of a parking spot for example, when i'm driving very normally, And I give the car a small amount of gas from a stop, my car will automatically shift from first into second. But it's sporadic, not consistent in any way shape or form. My transmission is fine, I know that, I've been through enough GM transmissions to know when their nearing their failing points, and this trans, I've babied and taken care of. It is due for a fluid change (which is getting done next month.) But all of this is making me think its electrical of some sorts. And i also know it shifts into second, because when I start dropping the shifter into lower gears, nothing happens up until I hit first, then it's like 'OHAI THIS IS WHAT SHOULD BE DOING.'
And this is a fairly new thing, because before my rebuild, it did NOT do this.
    so idfk...

So... It shifts from reverse to 1 then 2?

Would you mind if I asked that you rewrite that first post, it's pretty confusing. "Say I'm in reverse then when I'm normally driving it shifts to 2nd"... WHUT?

Give us one or two seperate examples. Starting out from a light the car prematurely shifts to 2nd. The trans upshifts to 2nd at 5mph when I'm leaving a stop sign with light throttle. See what I mean? We need some detail to be able to understand what you are describing to us because we aren't there to experience it.

    Thanks

from what he was saying last night in teh chat, he will go from P to R and back out of his spot in a parking lot, then go to D, then he says he will give it a little gas to go forward then as soon as he lets off the gas pedal and still going under 5 mph the car dropped into second gear when it shouldnt.

    It's early shifting? See I asked a question...cause I didn't really get it.

Could be pissed and trying to get outta a slippery first. Scan it, look for codes etc.

honestly, it only does it when the motor is under less then 10% throttle, and i don't think its throwing any codes but i'll check to be sure. any other possibilities?

A bad tps, maf etc can effect shifts. So if there's anything funky pending...I'd look there.
