    remove the broken one and match it up to the one thats available, as i have no idea if its the same or not.

    According to my GM Catalog at work, there are several different part numbers for the cables so best bet would be to physically match up the cables. Odds are good 97 GT to a 99 GT would be the same tranny and the same cable, but that is not always the case.
