I building my original trans into a custom race trans. I leaning toward 3.29 gears,7/8 hv chain, hardened 4th hub, kevlar clutch packs, ntc 3000 stall converter, transgo shift kit,and fully updated sonnex/valve body. Anything I am missing please chime in. I want this thing to move so help me out with suggestions if mine are not accurate. Thanks in advance........

If your going to get a shift kit, get one from a transmisson shop where they replace valves. Its running me about 160 to get that put in mine.

Where are all these parts coming from? I've never heard of the clutches referred to as Kevlar. Usually it's by brand name like Raybestos red's or Borg Warner.

    What's your expected power level?

Daves site says that after 280 WHP the trans must basically be built for your car and power level.

There are no good chain setups anymore.

the 7/8ths stretches, the BW GXP chain snaps like stock but is stronger etc.

Do you plan on making track passes?

If no, then under 280 WHP and no slicks you should be good with the upgraded stock set.

Victor smalls has been on his stock transmission for a while...

15/16 chain is actually weaker than the 7/8 form what I hear.

The newer dual V8 chains are better than the old V6, but still not super strong

7/8 stretches and takes a F'n Sheetload of abuse, ask my right foot

15/16's.. here's my thoughts on that, dunno if this was the same one WBS sells, but it's common knowledge they snap before they stretch.

Supposedly one of the vendors is working to make a 1".

I'm making about 220 at the wheels now. I plan on putting in a cam later a VS or XP not sure which one yet. I am planning on putting on my 3.25 pulley and retuning. So the cam and the pulley should add roughly 35-55hp so make that about 275whp max which sounds about right.

I hoping its made in North America cause I read that Asian parts have been made for transmissions such as chains which are not as strong as the Morse chains which are made in North America (USA Mexico Canada) and they break within a few thousand miles. So maybe the ones that are breaking are being made overseas....just my thoughts on this.
