    HI
I have a 2002 gpgt with a 3.8. I just got the car recently and I have noticed that the tranny doesn't really seem to grab very hard unless you step into it and bring the rpm's up to around 3000rpm. Same with cruising speeds on the highway, you really have to get into it to get much accelleration. Last owner said he had it flushed recently but who knows if that was true. Fluid looks clean and is up to level, a little over actually. Should I try changing the filter and fluid first or am I looking at a bigger problem?
    Thanks guys!

These transmissions dont have much shift feel in stock form and almost feel like they are slipping so yours is likely working as it should. Long smooth shifts are just the nature of these transmissions unless you upgrade the pcm or install a shift kit to help shorten the shifts. If you are not setting a P1811 code then the transmission is working within the range that the pcm wants to see for shift timing.

OK thanks! The shifts do seem long and smooth so I guess it is ok. I have no lights on so I would assume there is no code either. What is the pcm? and is installing a shift kit worthwhile or will it make the car seem jerky and uncomfortable to drive? Thanks!

Thanks! I was just reading the info in the how to section about wiring up the performance shift. So is everything already in the car aside from the button and wiring for this? Would you just get a shifter from the scrap yard with the shift button on it? Also it said something about programing it, I assume you would need a programer then right? Thanks.
