Ok.. I hate to bust in on the GTP group asking a question that actually goes along with my Montana minivan trans. But hay the trans is the same. And if it makes anyone feel any better I do have a 1999 Grand prix GTP (140k miles with no trans problems) Maybe will talk about that car some day. It sorta has a stumble problem to (but that isn't trans but Ignition or fuel related if I were asked)

Anyway. The posts I've read seem to be complaining about shifts 1-2 3-4 or what ever... And to me the van (once going) seems to shift fine. I think I've detected some "later" then i'd expect shifts lately but they were smooth. And perhaps I just had my foot more in it then other times..

So Van has 171k miles on it. Had a good life. But now some times after being stopped for a while at a light or perhaps getting back on the gas after a stop sign or even slightly rolled stop sign. it feels like it falls out of gear and as you continue to press on the gass it grabs and lets go (like perhaps a 1 way bearing might grab and go loose and grab again.)

Guess you would call that a shutter but can be pretty violent..

Anyway in reading seems like the cure might be the pressure control solonoid. But talk about a major pain in the but to get to and change. Maybe ZZP's shift kit would be an easy try to..

Van does not present any codes for the issue...

Just wondering if anyone had any other thoughts on this. To me I'd sit and say well the car idles so low (<600 rpm now) that the trans line pressure probably dips below threshold and pops out of gear. then when more rpm is added it slams in and out as the pressure returns..

Really would like to avoid having to drop this trans out as it sounds like a major undertaking compaird to other trans (A604 in my lebaron, Muncie in my SS Chevelle) were to take out and re-do..) But anywho.. I know my A604 trans really would get pissed if it's pump was not producing enough pressure but anyway

Thanks for any input..
