I did a search and only found one post "7 quarts"

Anyone know about how much fluid I need to replace?

Also should I use Dexron III, maybe high mileage, or is there a better alternative fluid?

110k on a 1999 grand prix, not sure if this filter or fluid has been changed, but I'm gonna do it today

Haven't had a job in two months almost, so I gotta do something...

I believe it's 8 quarts with the pan drop. Dexron VI is available for an upgrade.

yeah the Valvoline 75,000+ mileage tranny fluid was Dex IV i believe. If you read the back of the quart bottle, it will say what it is.

and on my tranny pan drop, I used 9 quarts. That was with a new filter and shift kit. Not sure if that adds another quart onto the 8 that RobZSS said he used.

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can find for fluid. I was not impressed with autozone or wal-marts selection.

Wow, 3 of the pan bolts were missing, so I got some replacements from home depot for 1.41.

Fluid cost me 32 bucks and the filter was another 10.

It feels like it shifts a lot smoother than before, but it hasn't gotten too hot yet. I'm satisfied

    Amazon.com: Valvoline VV322 MaxLife DEX/MERC Automatic Transmission Fluid - 1 Gallon: Automotive

    This is what I used.

Not sure if it's safe to do full synthetic, I doubt it'd kill the trans though.
