So im only 17, im new to cars and everything
i recently bought my 1998 Grand Prix GTP

and my question is, iv heard Pontiac have weak transmissions.

usualy i drive like a old person trying to get the best MPG i can get, but every now and then i like to use my supercharger so ill get on my street which is very long and straight and just gun it. usually my tires squeal and i jerk a little, but its super fun. Does accelerating this fast hurt my transmission a lot?

lets say i wanted to time myself or race or something, what is the proper way to accelerate the fastest?

sorry im such a car noob lol

its ok, thats while we are all here, to learn. the trannys in high mileage are know to have problems like loosing for 4th gear. but for starters it never good to go WOT in first gear. i usually wait till it shifts into 2nd and pull from that gear. but straight up, the less you beat your car, the longer it will last.

Ya with a stock trans you need to be careful not to bag it too much, cause it will only take it for so long til it gives out. If you plan on going to a 3.4 setup even ragging on it will destroy it quickly.
