my trans just blew, out nowhere, my car only has 114xxx miles on it

Upon more consideration I've decided to go for a low-mile used trans.
My problem...or worry rather is that it seems the stuck converter is something that happens quite often.
Anything I can do to sorta prevent that when I get another trans?
