Not quite sure but looks like I'm missing a few parts

Transmission decided to take a **** on me so I figure this is the perfect time to go ahead and pull everything and do a little cleaning. Lost all of 3rd gear, and stalling the engine it would rev over 4,500 rpm's with some grinding happening. Having a rebuild done on it with new torque converter, new hardened 4th shaft, transgo shift kit, high energy bands and a couple of other little goodies. Should be plenty for a DD with a few passes at the track every summer.

Started disconnecting everything the other day but didn't get to finish cause of work and the weather. Yesterday was nice so I got back to working on everything. Only took about 3 to 4 hours of easy working all together to pull both the engine and trans separately. Gonna go ahead and replace a leaking oil pan gasket and a few other miscellaneous gaskets and O-rings.

Also plan on making my own vaccum lines running between the LIM, map and whatever the other end goes to.

Any way on to the pics.

    Before starting

    After pulling the engine.

    Somethings definetaly been leaking.

    And about 20 minutes later.

    No More GTP for me.

Actually it's one of the easier vehicles I've found to remove stuff on. Try pulling the trans on a late 80's bmw, I'll never touch one of those again.

There's plenty of room for every bolt you need to get to. Did all of this with must basic hand tools. The most complex tool I used was probably a swivel socket other than the engine hoist of course

oh, no, i completely agree with you. these cars are like kinex...since hondas are like legos. they go together and come apart very easily.

didn't really make that much difference whether I pulled them together or seperate, plus it looked like the trans wouldn't clear the brake booster if they were left together but I may be mistaken.

Im wondering if there is a way to remove the axles from the tranny without having to undo the suspension.

Theory 1: slide tranny all the way one way, and push the closer shaft all the way in the case, and it might give enough rooom to slide the other shaft out of the case.
Then just lift tranny out and the other axle will come out.

Theory 2: scratch theory 1 and say " aaww screw it" and undo lower control arms

Takes all of 10 minutes per side to do anyways so why not just unbolt the lower ball joint.

I unbolt it then put a jack with a block of wood on it under the hub and jack it up a bit to provide some tension to release the joint. After a few good hits on a ball joint fork it'll break loose. I then take a junk 30 inch 3/8 extension and use that to pry the lower A-arm the rest of the way down to seperate the A-arm from the upper assembly. that's pretty much it.

Of course unbolting the brake assembly and axle nut as well.

Not a bad time at all My engine removal took a little over that time and i just pulled the engine alone

looks a hell of a lot easier that way then triing to drop the cradle in a drive way

That's why I did it like that. Didn't have enough height to be able to remove everything needed plus I need to replace the oil pan gasket and IIRC you have to remove the engine mount bracket anyway.

Plus it's not the first time I've removed an L67 so that made it alot quicker. A guy on one of the local forums I'm on can have his out in about an hour and a half but thats cause he's done it several times.

yea I mean its a easy engine to pull but 1.5 hours thats insane it took me that long just to mark every thing off and i organize as i go so that slows me down aswell

Once you've done it enough you know where everything goes so you pretty much just toss everything in a pile.

    UPDATE
Got the trans back yesterday. The 4th shaft hub splines were almost gone and the input pump shaft was the same way. The clutches were almost metal to metal and the bands showed alot of heat marks.

Anyways they threw a transgo shift kit in it, A higher stall (Not sure the speed but it's around 700 higher than stock. Borg warner high energy clutches and bands, all new solenoids, and the full rebuild kit all for $693 grand total. Not a bad deal if I do say so myself. I'm gonna get to the reinstall monday and hopefully I have enough time to get it all done.

Anybody know what the stock stall speed is in a GTP?
