I'm sorry it was the BTSI fuse in the glove box.
well i came by the shop and the guy said he didnt tear anything apart, however he plugged in a tranny diagnostic software and scanned for codes. he said, IIRC lol, there were no errors and he said that if the diagnostic scan came thru with no codes but the tranny wont shift into any gears, then its an internal problem somewhere. he also said doing it that method helps both of us in labor charges(he's a kewl guy that my lil bro and alot of my friends goto get their cars fixed/modified). so now im in search for another tranny. i got a tip from lysander about a guy a town over who has a l67 tranny with ~80K miles on it and wants $350.00 for it. sounds pretty good to me, but i need to know what year since i'd also need the cooler lines IIRC if its naything other than a 98(mines a 98 FWIW).
well the tranny lysander told me is a L36 w/3.29 gears. how hard is it to swap out the HD-diff(assuming its not shot) and installed into the L36?
Since yours is a 98 trans you have the thread in type cooler lines. 00+ has quick connects, 99 has thread in also but two different threads sizes in the case for the feed line which since they have threaded fittings its of no concern for your car, BUT if the trans you mention is an 00+ trans you will need to get the later thread in fittings that were used in some late 99 models. Confused yet? lol
lol somewhat but i understand there are differences. i am ending up buying the other trans thats a 98 l67 daytona gp with i believe 60k miles on it, gotta double-check. the guy said it had a fluid/filter change ~10k miles ago and is due for another one shortly. im debating if i should install a mild shift kit in the 'new' tranny or just opt and have the tranny tuend via powrtuner. dave what do u think, shift kit or not? IIRC ever since i had the shift kit installed, 3rd-4th gear shift at higher speeds, such as merging onto the highway, bangs and shifts hard. i wasnt sure if thats how its suppose to act but i drove it like that since. the shift kit was isntalled at ~115k and now the car's at 141K FWIW.
Did you check the fuse???
yes i checked the BTSI fuse and it was fine
*bump
Some info on the tranny im planning on buying. The guy said the tranny crapped out on him when he bought it a while back. Cant recall themileage but for some reason 60K hits my head. Anyways he went and got the tranny rebuilt and since he works at a shop he said he’s been having 10k mile trans flush done and the tranny has now 102k miles on it. Im gonna take a test drive tomorrow and see and feel how the shifts are from various throttles and speeds. Just need your opinions-especially trannyman dave on this lil ‘issue’ or concern. Thanks in advance.
EDIT-just read trannyman's story/info on his webpage. i should definitely check nd inspect the fluid level b4 taking the car for a test drive as well as purchasing it.

update. i got the 98 trans from the seller who has the 98 daytona gtp that has ~102K miles. a review of the tranny:
-98 tranny that was fixed by the dealorship b4 the current owner bought it due to the trans slipping at ~70K miles. this was approximately 5 years ago.
-ever since then til he stopped driving it back in early 07(tree collapsed on it), he had 10K mile trans flushes done at his shop.
-drained the fluid via the pan and took off the pan. gasket looked alright but still a tad beat up but thats expected with 102K miles. theres no breaks or cracks on the gaskets.
-bought a new trans filter today from zzp
-now, i need to know if the amount of metal particles in the pics below is 'acceptable' for the amount fo mileage on the tranny. whether i should be concerned or not for the amount of metal shavings in the pan. thanks in advance and onto the pics:
I dunno, that seems a tad bit more than normal. But trannyman would be better able to judge that than I.
Now, how in hades did you get that thing up on that platform? Please tell me you did not lift that up on there yourself. If you do I am going to feel like such a whimp, because there is no way in hades I can lift mine up. I tried.
cleaned pan:
yes i did, i had to wabble like a penguin carrying it from the garage door to that lil platform 6 feet away i got cuts to prove it lmao. it was no easy task i'll tell ya
edit-i was able to carry it prolly cause some of the fluid was lost loading it into the back of my mother's car getting it home. when i drained the pan i got a bit over a gallon and a pint FWIW

also i was surprised i was able to get the filter out from the hole rather easily. the lil ring came out with a bit of left and right tugging but not overly yanking was necessary.
Geeesh, Im such a whimp.
I throw around 185lb dry (215+lbs wet aka coolant filled) parts at work and I don't think I could move the tranny easily myself. I mean, I do move these parts myself, but not far and not that high. We use two people on them (in a patented form ) to put them in the plane, which is just about shoulder height if you're lucky and the plane is fueled.
Oh yeah, I weigh 172lbs (fairly average for a 6ft guy, I think) last time I weighed at the gym (last week). Anyway, to sum up this post, I don't really think you're a whimp.
lol, anyways getting back on track, what do u guys think of the shavings in the pan? ^_^;
I'll put it like this. That 'seems' like a lot of material. What I find puzzling is that there is not that much on your pan magnet, so Im not really sure what to make of it. When I serviced my tranny the first time after buying the car, I had maybe a little less than what you had on your magnet, but my pan was pretty darn clean. So take it for what its worth. I would PM trannyman and point him here and see if he can give you some input.
