The past few mornings when i go to take off my tranny doesnt seem like the clutch is grabbing 1st gear all the way, then when i hit the gas it kicks into gear. This only happens once and then the tranny is fine the rest of the day. The weather is cold up here and i figured this was a mixture of old fluid and cold weather since the tranny warms up and acts normal.

This morning instead of kicking into gear the car never grabbed and instead acted like it was in neutral. It would not go into reverse drive or any other gear. Also when i started it up first thing i noticed a whining noise that i had never heard before.

The fluid does not seem burnt and didnt appear to be low although it was dark out. Just looks somewhat dirty and ready to be changed. I went back to the car after it had been shut off a couple minutes and it shifted into reverse and drive although drive still seemed like it might not be fully engaged but im not 100% as i didnt dare leave the lot.

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    thanks in advance

The whining is most likely the pump making noise. The slipping would IMO be input clutches. I'm not quite an expert though.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

talked to a technician who said that it may just be the fluid needs to be changed because if the filter is clogged then you are going to have pressure problems not allowing it to go into gear

When was the last time you changed the fluid and filter?

And you did check the fluid when the car was hot, running, in park, correct?
