so i have a replacement transmission i am going to throw into my car but the shift selector is very stiff, it requires me to put a wrence on it and basicly pry on the lever to get it to shift, is this normal for a trans that has been sitting? i can hear it click into the gears but the strain to shift it is much harder than the current trans that can be selected with one finger.

can i remove the rod from the trans and clean any corrosion or fix anything on it? or should i just put a 4gear hub in my old trans and try to sell this one for a rebuild?

Try to remove the cable from the transmission (make sure parking brake is on) and see if the selector is hard to move on the tranny. I had the same issue and the problem was with the cable, not the tranny. I simply replaced the cable and all was well.

It is a highly suggested upgrade for your car and you can find everything much better and also a good style for your car.
