I can't get it out!! Simple as that.

I gave the whole shaft a good tug and it separated at the inner boot and now the piece that attaches to the differential will not come off. Should it have been this hard to get off?

Any ideas on how to get that last piece out of the diff?

Everyone seems to have issues getting the new one back in but not taking the old one out so I'm stumped.

Any help would be appreciated. Headed out to work so I'll tackle this when I get home tonight.

BTW: Its a 2000 GP SE with 3.8

You're going to need more than a good tug to remove an axle.. Pickle fork man! haha

Yeah, you can't just pull on the driveshaft or it will separate like yours did.

But to get it out, you need to get a prybar inbetween the driveshaft and the transmission case. Don't pry too hard or you can crack the tranny case. But a good, quick, stout push from a pry bar should pop it out. There is a snap ring on the driveshaft that you have to compress to get the axle out. So the quick pressure compresses it enough to pop out.

Sometimes a good yank with the hands will get it out. Sometimes a prybar and tap the shaft with a hammer will be enough.

I have also heard of people using slide hammers. But I don't have one and never used one. So can't say for sure how well they work. But just a thought.

Got er out with a lot of work. Never had a halfshaft be that difficult. Crow bar and a 4lb sledge took care of it after a while.

WHEn i did my trans i used the slide hammer method to pop the cv's out both were out with 5 min

If your having problems getting it out id reccomend checking your local autozone and see if they have one to rent out

Slide Hammer FTW! The only way to do it IMO. Autozone has the CV puller/Slide Hammer for rental....
