Well my transmission will be ****ting the bed in a few months, I've started saving for a new one and will be getting a triple edge transmission. While doing this I'm going to upgrade to either 3.29 or 3.69 gears. I really want 3.69's as its going to accelerate much much better. (I remember changing gears from 3.73 to 4.10's in my ranger and the big change from just that, can only imagine it on this car). So tell me whats the pro and cons of this.

Well obviously the pros would be better acceleration, possible top speed. The cons are of course higher cruising rpm, less gas mileage. FWIW, if its not a track only car, dont get the 3.69's , go with the 3.29's. Your still gonna need to change the tables in the pcm for that though. Also another thing to consider, if its hard getting off the line traction now, how about when you go with a better ratio?

This is why for me I don't know why anyone would want even the 3.29's unless I am missing something. I would just prefer the stock gearing if it was me........unless maybe they have something between the 2.93's and the 3.29's............but for me I would prefer the less spinning and gas mileage combo.......but it is your car so what do you want to get out of it?

Well right now I'm more stock than anything, I have a CAI and downpipe. I have a pulley and PCM waiting to be put on, I'd have the tables changed on the PCM I have sitting around so I can get the new ratios. This car does haul but it won't roast the tires like everything says. Sure from a stop it will spin but if I'm moving it won't do it. Maybe my trans is more trashed than I think but it won't do it.

mine doesnt spin from a roll either since I put the new tires on.
If you have harder tires or ones that have less tread, they spin much easier. Before the new tires I could spin them into the upper twenties from a roll and punching it.....fwiw.
Maybe my tranny is junk too.....or the cv axles......or both...idk

Well I have toyo proxy and have good tread, basically brand new actually so maybe thats why also. It hauls though just not tire shreading like I hear on here quite a bit. Oh well I still enjoy my car but a new transmission with more umph never hurts. I'll get 3.29's then if 3.69 should really be for a track car. I just figured that GT's got 3.29's and they cruised fine and I should get better than that. I do drive highway all the time to work and back but get stuck in traffic all the time.

i spun my tires at 25mph getting in the acceleration lane of an on-ramp , i have a stock gt trans (3.29's) imo its the best for all around use.

Traction issues will increase with 3.29s on a GTP, but it is more fun to drive around town! LOL

there is absolutely no reason to have 3.69s on a car that you drive a lot. if its mainly a weekend cruiser that you end up taking to the track a lot the maybe, but i still think its a waste. traction is already stupid with the 3.29s that i have.

    i vote you do 3.29s.

Sounds like I will have to go for the 3.29 also. Does that tend to make anything wear out faster?

Can't imagine how easy it could be to spin the wheels with that. All I have on my GTP is a K&N cone and, last time I dusted this annoying civic from a light, I was chirping the wheels all the way to 50mph.

i have a 3800 stall converter, 3.29 gearing, xp cam, other lil things. on street tires and a bad knock sensor(running 12 degrees of timing instead of 15 like it should) i ran a 13.82 at 98mph. my 60 ft time was 2.02. i can launch good with 3.29s. my opinion but i like them over the stock 2.93 loooong gearing. i actually would like to drive a car with 3.69s. i can do 130 in 3rd gea. and theres still overdrive. who needs that much gearing really? lol
