Yes do it!
There is the old wifes tale that says if you have never done it to a transmission in its life, do not ever do it! The theory is, once you drain the fluid it takes metal and material out that once helped the trans run and shift properly. You replace the fluid and all this magic stuff is now gone, the trans will fail shortly after.

IF the transmission is in good working condition, i.e. the fluid is not burnt and it is shiftiing properly,you should do it. The fluid is not designed to last forever.
