i only saw about a 4mpg increase once 4th was fixed.
It was actually more of a joke about your seemingly heavy lead feet. If you drive your car hard enough to strip that, you must never get good gas mileage in the first place.
Can this work all be done with engine and trans in the car or no!! =[
I'm pretty sure the 4th clutch shaft can be replaced with the trans in the car. You have to disassemble the driver's side suspension and drop that side of the cradle to gain access to the side cover.
Good 2 know thanks sabre ok i take the side trans cover off. Then what does anybody know the extent of how much crap needs to come out to get to the shaft n replace it? Thanks
yeah my Tranny's been shot for about 2 months now. i still drive it and i dont baby the thing either >.> haha mines a bad pressure valve or something like that. mine threw the codes a couple weeks ago after the tranny spazzed at me. i would say drive the thing til it totally gives out on you.![]()
Had mine in today to a tranny guy I know. We thought it was going to be a pressure solenoid based on what I had described to him over the phone, until he drove it and we realized I had lost fourth. He is going to rebuild a spare tranny he has in the shop then just do a swap in a week or so. Needless to say the repair cost will have quadrupled from what he initially quoted me!!!
my gfs gtp hasnt had a 4th gear the whole nearly 2 years shes had it lol. she can get a lil over 200 miles out of a full tank. i still want it from her lol. i drive a new beetle. i dont care about the mileage i just want something a lil bit more guylike lol. and its only gonna be about 3k to get.
hmm... well i noticed my car wasnt shifting into fourth on monday when i was on the freeway. i drove 130 miles in 3rd and only went threw little less then half a tank. maybe mine is caused by something else and i didnt actually lose 4th?
hahaha refer to my other thread for lost 4th gear people.... you will find metal shavings and chunks hahaha
lol hopefully not. hopefully its something else and not the shaft. im gonna drop the drain the pan this weekend and see if i see any shavings before i have my buddy rebuilt it for hundreds of bucks lol.
theyre will be trust me.......
