i have had 2 4t65e hd trannys go out of 2002 GTP.the only code present in PCM on both occasions was a p1571.could it be possible that the same thing was wrong with both transmissions,or is something else causing the transmission to go out.The last trans that went out somehow had water in it.what are some things that would cause that?i found a used trans with 95k on it for 400 bucks and id just like to know before i buy it if something else is causing to them to fry.

It is hard to say what is causing the problems, some last a long time and some dont. Was your replacement a rebuild or just a used stock trans? I would be cautious of the 95K trans as that is honestly the point in time when many of these transmissions fail or start showing a few common problems. If there was water in your last trans it only came in because you drive through really deep water or from your radiator/trans cooler being damaged and allowed water into the trans. I have also seen used transmissions with water inside them even if the pan is clean because once it mixes with trans fluid it will go throughout the entire trans and cause damage in a matter of miles. Proper maintenance and how you drive the car has a huge impact on how long it will last but some just have problems more than others and there is no definate answer.

It was a used stocker with 60k on it so they said.im gonna go with the damaged cooler line since cant recall ever driving through deep water. This p1571 code, does it have anything to do with the trans?

I was thinking when i was installing my trans dipstick the other day. When i had to bend it out of the way for the turbo downpipe, the braket pulled the weld out from the dipstick a bit which allowed a small hole on the dipstick tube to be open to the world. maybe thats how some of the water got it for you?

Nothing great Just a small T66 Turbo with a Hv3 On a stock tranny untill i finish the other one.

Code P1571 is "Traction Control Torque Request Circuit" . I dont have the info on hand on this computer to have descriptions of the whys and hows but I imagine it is related to the ABS module. I dont see this to be the cause of a trans failure though. I will try to look into it more when I can look at my GM code info and diag charts.

If it is milkly like chocolate milk then you have water in the trans. Normally "Strawberry Milkshake" is the slang for finding water in the trans but that is with red fluid. If the trans fluid was dark colored from being old or burnt then it will look like chocolate. I would unquestionable replace your radiator or use an external cooler by itself if you dont want to replace the radiator and completely avoid using your exising in-radiator trans cooler.

i guess ill update it myself I found a trans for 450 shipped to my front door with 60 k on it with a 60 day warranty from an out of state junkyard,it should be on a truck by afternoon tomorrow on its way here.Sooooo im gonna pass on the other one i found....my next question is what is the BEST trans cooler for our cars, what kind of price tag comes on it and where do i get one.....also wheres a good place to get all the solenoids that come in a HD.I want to replace them ALL before it causes probs in the future.

Also Trannyman did you happen to find anymore info on the 1571 code? I kinda want my ABS to work seeing is how i have almost rear ended a few ppl driving in the rain.

EDIT: nevermind on solenoids and trans cooler...trannyman has it all on his site and thats where ill take my buisness.
