I ran Amsoil ATF, I ran a GMPP cooler and Ive got maybe 50k on the fluid now. Ive kept close tabs on it though over that time. Still fairly bright red, no burnt smell.
I have actually been planning probably for the last month to grab a sample and send it in for analysis and see if that revealed anything about what may have been starting to fail in the tranny. At which time I was going to drop the pan and change out the filter and the fluid in the pan with regular ATF until I got the new tranny in and I would put it back on Amsoil ATF.
Given the events of last night I wish I had really placed more priority in getting that done. Ive not really abused the car at all. I am spirited at times, Ive only been to the track one time with it and after the symptoms developed last year I was a little more cognitive of how I was driving the car to try and get all the time out of it I could. And I only planned to make it until such time it warmed back up.
I might yet pull out a sample of the fluid and send it in just to see how it held up overall, but if it is the differential that let go, then there is probably quite a bit of metal in the pan Im sure.
