97-03 GTP's carry the same transmission that is in you're car. But all from 97-03 will bolt right in. The one's from the GT's have a higher gear ratio and will need to get the PCM reprogrammed for it to work right. They also had a weaker differential.

Somewhere in the 03 model year some of the internals to the transmission were slightly changed. If you try to stick that transmission in an earlier car without modifying the PCM, it won't act right.

97-99 GTPs and Regal GSs would be a direct swap. 00-02 GTPs and GSs would require messing around with the cooler line fittings, but otherwise would be a direct swap. 03+ would complicate things quite a bit, best to avoid them.
