no seriously i just want to mention i have 2 GTP's.I love them both alot.Sometimes,my wife says i love them more than herself,it aint true.But,what i want to mention is that these cars a 97' black 2 dr. coupe GTP and a 98' Daytona 500 pace car 2 dr. coupe #20/1500 are great besides the tranny.Every single post about the 4T65E HD is just aweful it seems that GM would take notice and try to fix what they started?I know alotta people are outta money due to the probs.with this tranny and alotta shops have made a killin' of most too.I wonder if GM one day will build a tranny to hold up to the bad azz 3800 L67 engine it already has a good name for.And i also wonder even with the regular maintenance on the 4T65E HD it still fells? Some piece of work huh? Goodluck.

The tranny can hold up just fine. If they'd use better solenoids and a few other improvements in the valve body we'd probably never have issues except in heavily modded cars.

True, better valve body and hardened 4th gear shaft and probably little to any issues.

Can't count the 4th gear shaft, since that's something they did eventually fix. My car came stock with one.

Sadly it is a moot point being that the 3800s are no longer being made...

I am sure they are wondering why someone would suggest building a tranny for an engine that isn't being made anymore?

The 3800 isn't the only engine that used this transmission. It's still being built and used in the Impalas. It's mated with the 3500, the 3900, and the LS4.
