Thread: Looking at a 06 GXP

Body is nice , every thing works.. hud electric seats etc...and shifts good in all respects but Just wondering at 208,000 klms which is around 129,000 miles if $5500.00 is a good price.. Interior is mint but my worry is the transmission? I would like to know if its been redone or replaced... As it seems to be a weak link in the GXP's .. Is there a way to check with GM if they did tranny work on it?

Thanks for the info... These trannys are known to fail... but its all due to the heat isnt it? How do you disable the DOD system? I have seen kits but it includes pulling he heads?

A remain unit would be painted likely bright silver and have a GM remain tag right on the transmission. Most often found on the top of the transmission. Likely hard to spot with it still covered by the airbox, wiring and exhaust.

It's a gamble no matter what you buy. The engine burn oil and the transmission are known to fail. Ideally you'd want to disable the AFM/DoD system if all parts are original to prolong the life of the parts and a transmission cooler is a must if temps go over 180 on a regular basis.
