usually whining tranny is a bad pump, or a clogged filter. never seen one start and then stop tho. either way you'll be dropping the pan at some point im sure. then you'll know more about its condition.

It isn't making the noise anymore but I do not have 4th/overdrive. Not sure what I would find in dropping the pan. Fluid looks good just did a filter change say 1500 miles ago.Originally Posted by Scottydoggs
Biggest question I need answered is if I stripped the splines on 4th clutch shaft can I hurt it by driving in 3rd for awhile until I figure things out?
