Dang. The only reason I want this replaced with the others is because when I first started having issues it was throwing a P0742 code as well that said (torque converter clutch solenoid stuck on) but once it was deleted it never came back. Think I could just get by without replacing it? I guess it can be done if needed, just a lot more complicated than first thought.

ive not dug into a tranny myself. but theres a thread here with pic of what bolts to remove and what ones to leave in and the vb comes out as one part so you dont need to open it and deal with any check balls. iirc

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

It depends on what caused the solenoid to fail.

If it was a mechanical/electrical failure of the solenoid itself, the code will come back. If it was just a piece of grit that caused the valve it to stick, once it's flushed outta there, you'll probably be okay with just fresh fluid and a filter.

Have you pulled the pan yet?

If the TCC solenoid clip is on the back of the VB, he'll have to split it from the CP.

No. If pan is pulled and there is metal i'd say at that point i'm looking at rebuild or a junk tranny? (probably the junk tranny not too sure about a rebuild)

Yup. That's why I would recommend pulling the pan before doing anything. Transmission forensics.

There is always pasty stuff on the magnet and pan. Pieces are not good to find.

Even though the fluid was red, if it has more than 20,000 on it then it would be a good idea to replace the filter and top off with fresh fluid anyways. Just from a maintenance point of view.

Finally got it all back together. Its been raining on and off every day this week so its been a pain. Will get the fluid and filter changed today hopefully if the rain ever stops.
