Thought I would double check on here, have a 04 GP with a trans going bad , while checking on getting a used one was told that 04 GP are 1 year only transmissions (only a 04 transmission will work) can anyone on here verify that or have an other info on this??
    thanks

2004 is not a year only, not sure were you read that or got that information.

Aslong as the transmission from another NA 3.8 GP from 04-08 is should drop in just fine.

The Comp G and GTP transmissions are different because of electronic controls and gear ratio's.

the only thing you may have to do is swap in your 3.05 FDR diff in, if the trans is from a bonnie/impala/etc as they may have the 3.29 FDR diff (fdr = final drive ratio)

Got told the exact same thing; maybe it's a glitch in their database, but with the 04s being beta-test cars as it is, maybe there's something in the early production (mine was built 1/14/2004) models that's slightly different, but wouldn't prevent a swap from a newer donor! Still, if there's no difference in the Gen 9 GP's transmissions for L26 cars, that's a relief!
