I actually know why they stopped using the hole in the headrests... When former GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz appeared on Autoline Detroit here on local access tv a couple of years ago he went into a big rant about it. Basically he said it costed them alot of extra money to produce the different style of headrests. And when he asked why couldn't they just put one style of headrest across the board he got alot of pushback. He said it was really stupid, its not like people will refuse to buy the car if the headrest doesn't have a hole in it. He eventually made the decision to change this starting in the 06' model year. Only a handful.of cars used them. Apparently that was just one of the supid things that GM was doing to run itself in the ground. It was an excellent episode. I'll try to find a link...
