I have a 2004 gtp comp g with 49k. I just installed a spectre 9"-10" open cone filter right after the MAF sensor on the intake piping. I did not unplug anything during the install. The car now has to crank a lot longer before firing. It also seems to hesitate for a second once it fires up. Once it is going though everything appears to be fine. I do not see any gap in the intake/filter seal. I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem or has any ideas on how to fix it or if it needs to be fixed. Like I said it is not stalling but it just sounds hesitant to start and that is concerning to me. Thanks for the input.

do you put the key in then wait for the fuel pump to prime then start the car?

I think the thing to do would be to erase the blocklearn that the car has stored and start from fresh. After installing a more free flowing intake, I would suspect the MAF volume has changed just enough to cause temperment, untill the car "relearns".

Anytime I undo the negative terminal on the battery and reset everything it will take a bit to get it started the first or second time afterwards, but after that it fires right up. So if you didn't unplug the battery while doing this, then maybe the wires going to the MAF got pulled by accident and it's not connected all the way?

There's nothing wrong with Spectre, I use them in my Geo that gets in the mid 60's for MPG, my malibu that gets 35-37 MPG, my GTP, and my supra that spanks the **** out of the GTP.
