Hey guys....Just bought a 04 GTP Comp G a few weeks ago and have been searching and thinking about what to do with the new blank canvas.....As far as I can tell (it has been raining/snowing the past two weeks so I have not been able to crawl under her) it is all stock....basically I am going for a daily driver that will have just a little more behind the gas....because well what is the fun of it if you can't tear it apart....so here are my thoughts...any advise/suggestions would be appreciated.....

First already planning on the basics....ie stage cooler plugs and wires flushing out the radiator and all of that good general making a mess out of my driveway stuff....

Cold air intake.....ok have heard both sides of this...from what I have read with the 04+ cars the intake was good enough provided I give it a good filter to breathe through....so would the fender intake be worth the hassle/bread

Colder T-stat.....I live in maine and as I am planning on having this be my daily driver and it can get cold during the winter I am kind of thinking about running stock...

Headers....well because you just have to spend your money on something.....Leaning towards S&S over the zzp headers but from what I saw S&S is a single piece....I could be and if that is the case are they a pain to fit in or am I just being paranoid....

cat back exhaust.....I don't know here.....kind of like how the stock pipes sound and I would rather have the cop pull over the ricer with the coffee cans instead of the grocery getter.....and from what I have read they really dont do that much in the way of horses so why fix what ain't broke....

porting the tb/sc from what I have read it seems like the 04+'s had the latest and greatest here so it was not really necessary.....

finally the pulley.....It sounds like a drop to a 3.6 would be comp to a 3.4 in pre 03's so with my goals in mind....keeping it a daily but with a little bit of a kick...would it be worth it or should I just stick with stock.....

anything more ie rockers/cams/intercoolers seem like it would be a step more than what I would want to do but you never know if I like the way the car is going I could cross that bridge down the road.....

so yea......any input you guys could throw me I would appreciate it....hopefully this sounds a little bit less annoying than a hey I just put a 3.2 pulley on my sc but I got a killer cat back exhaust.....

Slap a dry flow cone filter on the end of your maf.
You could run a 180* tstat I live in IA and run one.
    Get SSAC headers.
You do not need to port anything above the LIM on the 04+
You need a tune. Go with DHP from 3800performance.com
    Leave the cat back stock
Get something to scan with. IE aeroforce.
If you have no knock at that point drop to a 3.6
Rockers are not hard at all to do for later.

First already planning on the basics....ie stage cooler plugs and wires flushing out the radiator and all of that good general making a mess out of my driveway stuff.... don't do cooler plugs until you've dropped pullies. you'll find that on the old 3.4 setup most guys run autolite 104's with good results

Cold air intake.....ok have heard both sides of this...from what I have read with the 04+ cars the intake was good enough provided I give it a good filter to breathe through....so would the fender intake be worth the hassle/bread fenderwell intake = colder air temps, short ram intake= more airflow. i personally opted for more airflow

Colder T-stat.....I live in maine and as I am planning on having this be my daily driver and it can get cold during the winter I am kind of thinking about running stock... just run stock, there's no advantage to dropping it unless you've got alot of power... let the flaming begin, i know you all hate this

Headers....well because you just have to spend your money on something.....Leaning towards S&S over the zzp headers but from what I saw S&S is a single piece....I could be and if that is the case are they a pain to fit in or am I just being paranoid.... SSAC are the most popular for their value. 350$ shipped

cat back exhaust.....I don't know here.....kind of like how the stock pipes sound and I would rather have the cop pull over the ricer with the coffee cans instead of the grocery getter.....and from what I have read they really dont do that much in the way of horses so why fix what ain't broke.... stock exhaust is supposedly good till 350 whp. you definitely don't need it

porting the tb/sc from what I have read it seems like the 04+'s had the latest and greatest here so it was not really necessary..... i'm not so much help here

finally the pulley.....It sounds like a drop to a 3.6 would be comp to a 3.4 in pre 03's so with my goals in mind....keeping it a daily but with a little bit of a kick...would it be worth it or should I just stick with stock..... with headers, intake, and a tune you'll probably be good with a 3.6. Just make sure to scan for KR

anything more ie rockers/cams/intercoolers seem like it would be a step more than what I would want to do but you never know if I like the way the car is going I could cross that bridge down the road..... I said the same thing... but now i'm just gonna wait and do it all at once: headers, cam, tune, pulley drop

so yea......any input you guys could throw me I would appreciate it....hopefully this sounds a little bit less annoying than a hey I just put a 3.2 pulley on my sc but I got a killer cat back exhaust.....

pretty much everything he said^^^ i agree stock thermo is perfectly fine... i actually prefer it. i live in ohio so i know those wonderful winters. if you do headers, go with the ssac and if you do that, you should be fine on a 3.6 thats what im running and i have a dp plog combo knock free. i would try to keep the stock heat range plugs if possible... only drop it down a heat range if your knocking. no need for catback, and yes its true the 04+ blowers do not need or benefit from any porting. i also agree with the cone filter right after the maf. above all, make sure you get a tune. i have a 3800 performance pcm... i love it i think its better than the overkill tune i had.

everything ZR1 said is what i would have said. for a lightly modded car, which is what youre going for then youre not going to need the numerous amount of supporting mods like most of us did when we went past a '3.4 setup'.

also, FYI, the S&S headers are no longer being sold since the company went out of business. its a shame really because they had one of the best sets on the market and i really preferred them over many, many other brands.

Thanks for the input guys getting some great ideas and now I just have to wait for the company to start doing overtime again so I can afford this stuff....its a sad world when you have to pay your mortgage over buying stuff for your car.....growing up sucks
