Im dismantling a 05 gtp with no title to clone my 04 gt. Was thinking of keeping the gtp as a 1/8 mile toy. Just putting my n/a 3800 and trans in, 75ish shot, colder plugs and a canned nitrous tune, cheap headers, stock gt 15s with a decent tire... it wouldn't be nothing too serious power wise so keeping it as light as possible will be a decent gain in the 1/8 mile. Drivers seat only, no interior trim, electronics bare minimum, no stereo, no hvac system, Ac bypass pulley and possibly no glass. Anyone done this with a 04+? I'm curious to what kind of weight can be removed from these heavy cars.

I've searched around but not finding many 04+ track toys being built at all...

Some dude in canada has a 04+ dirt track car with just a drivers seat but nothing he races on a dragstrip type thing.

I'm sure you could get it down around 3,000-3,100lbs before you need to start swiss-cheesing some stuff or going fiber glass stuff.

3000 is about what I was guessing. My bone stock GT1 ran a 9.92 at 69mph with only rear seats and spare removed. I'd think a large diet and a well tuned 75 or maybe even 100 shot would be worth a second. And if it breaks I'm only in it the cost of a tune and my time throwing it together. The other stuff I cold reuse.

Wouldn't be anything spectacular but still fun and keep me from beating on my dd. Could probably hurt some feels with it lol.
