I've got an 04 GTP. My engine bay has been getting pretty hot with recent warmer weather, and with the spring and summer coming up, I don't want to be taking in so much hot air through my intake (or getting too hot in general). I know that a colder t-stat might help to a degree in terms of initial temp., perhaps certain additives (not sure), but is there a way I can direct grille airflow or make some kind of air funnel behind my headlamps? I don't think I want to purchase a ram air hood, and if someone can give me some suggestions for making certain hood scoops functional, I'm all ears.

    Oh, and do louvers work?
    Thanks in advance

really dont matter on a stock engine. they like the heat, the sc heats up the air anyways, but if you must look up diy fender well air filter.

the ic is amazing how you can touch the sc after wot runs, and i mean touch and lean on it, keeps it that much cooler. where with out your getting 2 nd degree burns for the same act.

So basically just leave it? Because down the road I'm trying to get up a smaller pulley. I've got some headers on queue, I have the tstat and colder plugs on my shelf, and I'm searching for a good PCM. At the moment I can't really make a fwi, and aren't intercooler kits like $1k? lol. 've handled a majority of maintenance and fluid/filter changing. I dunno, maybe I'm just nitpicking but I really want to get some circulation or something down the line.

^ I take that 1k back. But Idk what will work for my GTP all I've seen is 3800Performance's.

i can tune ya when the time comes, got a pulley puller too.

used ic kits are found time to time for less then new, what i got, hell all my mods are used. even the headers. but new is in the range of 800 easy. then you need some kind of fuel rail set up, fuel logs are not cheap at all, zzp modded rail is still alike a 100 bucks. i cut up a old stock rail and made it custom. the lines now run around the sides of the blower and ic.

im still running just a open cone filter, and a 195 t stat, fans tuned to 185 and dont ya know, thats where my temps stay pretty much.

I'm heading in on the 21st flight lands about 1:30 I think. Probably be busy on Monday-Wednesday, maybe get out of there a little early. Need to tell this project manager to calm her tits and quit making a mountain out of a molehill.

Pretty pissed for sure. All last week while I was on vacation my work phone blew up with emails with freaking like 20 people CC'd on 2 small problems, one I took care over the phone with one of the engineers (wasn't using enough test weight to calibrate) and the com problem I am sure he has a jumper in the wrong spot. She took part of an email I sent the engineer that stated serial com wasn't included, but if you do this it will work. She highlights just the " wasn't part of the scope of the project" but left out the rest and brodcast emailed everyone. Anyway it's a simple thing she's blowing out of proportion trying to make us look bad.

Anyway I'll be in there on Sunday.

Lol, yeah 04+ gets hot. Like real hot. Stock turn on for low speed is 217* so yeah they run a little hot....

Some guy hit my car when it was parked today. I don't think I can get there on Sunday. Passenger side headlamp and front bumper damaged. I think he wrecked the alignment on my front right wheel too. Sigh.

Put some flat washers on the hood hinges rear bolt to raise it up a bit and remove the rubber cowl to hood seal on the firewall, that should help the engine heat to escape some. Adding a hood vent is really the only way, but it would have to be fit and if you can not do it yourself it probably wont be cheap.

That sounds counterproductive since there is a high pressure area at the base of the windshield that would cause air to be pushed into the engine compartment which will reduce the amount of airflow through the radiator.

Air will escape out the back of the hood, and it can be seen in colder weather escaping. If his car is that hot under the hood its an option, but water may get in as well.

It might at idle in traffic, but when you are running down the freeway air is going to be forced into the engine compartment and the pressure differential inside the compartment will be much less and that is what draws keeps air flowing through the radiator. The higher the pressure differential the more air will pass through the radiator. I had issues last summer with the temp not being able to remain stable at freeway speed in 90+ degree weather. The temp would climb until I hit the fan turn on temp. The car should not have to rely on fans when moving at freeway speeds. I made some changes at the end of summer to combat that so we'll see if it works. Vents forward near the middle or front of the engine would be nice, but I haven't seen anything that wouldn't look hideous.
