Might be worth taking your heads to a local machine shop.. They may be able to Magnaflux them. Cracked heads are actually pretty common with our platforms and many of us run them still without issues, just a heads up.

I had no idea thays a common problem

Heres the storu, i bought this gtp, from the original owner, he said on his move from Utah to Airzona, the car quit on him

He had the heads taken off and to a machine shop and they informed him the heads were cracked.
And from there he did not want to put the $$ into it to get it running.

And i picked it up dirt cheap

How would i know if the heads were okay to reuse?

I would feel safer putting non cracked heads back on, if in fact they were cracked, im going to drop them off at my local.machine shop i ise, and have them verify that they are indeed cracked & no good

I know one local that went through 8 sets to find one pair that wasn't cracked. It's common.

Another local (Intrigue98) has a set that he got ported etc. They are sitting on a shelf in my garage, I know he's selling them.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I have a set of heads off a 97, they are different than the 98+ heads but will still work on any series II engine. Im running a set right now in my 01 with an 05 l26 bottom end.

How much for the ported heads?

And what would i do to make the 97 heads work on a 01

I have a 97 black GTP as well actually. But didnt want to hack apart a perfectly running car to make the 01 alive again

How much for the 97 gtp heads?

off topic, but I was on a clear understanding that, L67 heads were L67 heads.. whats specific about 97 heads?
