I am looking for a stock intake box for a 2001 GTP. I got the car with a after market intake and I am pretty sure I will not pass visual smog with it on. I live in Cali and just bought the car. So any help would be great. I am new to this forum and a first time owner of a GTP. I am not sure is the MAF sensor is gone. It just looks like he replaced the intake. I did look up DMV records that said it passed all but 1 smog check. Shortly after the failed test the last owner passed like 3 weeks later.

Soooooo, Everything is there, it just has the cone filter instead of a flat one in the plastic box? Or is there something more elaborate here?

    Pictures are good.

Looks like what we typically do. Everything appears to be there, and he did a decent job on the sensor. Just an open cone instead of in the box. I don't know much about the CA smog tests, but I see no reason why that wouldn't pass. Same system of sensors, the motor knows no difference, and the emissions should be the same. And it runs on hotter air than if it were in the box, so in theory it should use less fuel anyway. If it doesn't pass emissions, I imagine something else caused it.

Welcome to GPF by the way

I know in CA that even if the sniffer doesnt pick up the guy looking in my engine bay would have something to say about it you know. I just want the stock box for the smog check. :ff topic:: the engine is making a weird sound, kind of a thump thump thump sound, so my landlord and I figured out that it is the water bump. you can tell its the pump because it is loose. I can record a video of that too.

Yeah that won't pass visual here in california. It will pass the test but not the visual. I did not pass visual with the K&N CAI that is smog legal in california, even thought the test passed. What I ended up doing is getting an SLP intake since that looks stock and I had no problems the last time I took it to get smogged. The guy didn't notice it. Another thing you may want to do is check the local savage yard. I saw a few the last time I was there a couple weeks back.

Yes. You've got the whole box except for the lid that holds the filter. Salvage yard it and get the bellowed tube for it, and just put it on for the visual.
