Go to a junkyard and look for one. GT and GTP are the same. Just look at the VIN first for the year of the car. Much cheaper to do it that way. I think the MAF's are the same for '01-'02. Something like that. Safest bet is to look at the VIN for an exact match.

I just sold a L67 throttle body with my new one in it but I have one from a gtp from the junk yard. I've never used it but I was told that the car it came off of ran but I just had a new one so I used that.

Just quick info... 97/98 are the same (if usrd in 99+ you will consume a lot more fuel) 99-03 are the same GT or GTP. I have one of each here if still needed.

I have a couple used OEM GM units here.
STAY AWAY from aftermarket/reman MAF's as they are notorious for failing less than a year from new.
Also, verify it is the MAF and not the front o2 sensor -a faulty o2 sensor will trip codes for the MAF and cause symptoms of a bad MAF because the power for the MAF feeds through the front o2 sensor.
To verify it is the front o2 sensor have the MAF sensor plugged in and unplug the o2 sensor, then start the car. If it runs good then it's the o2 sensor. If it continues to run the same it is the MAF most likely.

Why would you consume more fuel for 99+? I did engine swap l26 and grabbed MAF out of 3800, didn't k ow what year it was, figuring 3.8 they are same

theres a part # on the maf for a reason. 97-98 one maf, 99-00 another then 01-03 and 04 up is another maf. it makes a difference.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

So I have L26, with 97 GP GT PCM, in my first gen 1995. What MAF should I have in the SC throttle body? Do some produce more power ? Or fuel economy.

the pcm's a 97 thats running the engine..... then you would use the 97 maf.

the pcm is set up for one maf, not what ever maf you like. theres a file in there for it. wrong maf and now the file dont work right.

It wont do nothing for power, lets just say a 99+ tb can fit either maf, a 97/98 tb can only fit a 97/98 maf.

Lets say you have a 99+ tb and use a 97/98 maf you will actually consume MORE fuel assuming you had a 99+ maf table in your file. That explain it a little better for you?

I bought an aftermarket sensor off Amazon and the MAF code was fixed but I picked up a too rich error code. Thankfully a fellow member sent over an OEM reman unit. No problems with the reman sensor.

Depends -1996 was a split year from what I've seen. Some had the Series I style MAF and some had the same MAF as 97-98.
