I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT (White). I installed Spyder Clear Led Tail lights. I want to replace the stock headlights with another stock pair. What would look better, black housings with clear lenses or chrome housings with clear lenses? I figure black housings will go with the black grill. If I got the chrome housings I would get a silver grill. Can't afford retrofits at the moment so getting stock head lights for now.

I would say chrome on the headlights just due to the fact that even stock they suck, so why black out the housing thus creating even less light output (if that's possible). Stick a set of Eagle Eye stock replacements in it and call it a day, then save up for some retro's. Just my .02

Here is my experience. I tried the black housings because they don't indeed look much cooler. The problem is that the stock headlights are TERRIBLE!!! They are impossible to see out of at night compared to the chrome housings. The solution was to get HID fogs and HID headlights. Problem solved and i am still using black housings.

Black look better but like they've said the light output is worse on them. Think about how much night driving you do and then decide on if it's worth it. I used HIDs in the black housings for about 3 months while planning a retrofit and other drivers hated me. I was constantly getting flashed and I aimed them as best I could. Black lights on a white are do look awesome though.

The ebay black headlights have a smaller chrome reflector. That is why the light output is so poor. If you want black headlights it is best to find a chrome set that has the same size reflector as OEM, open them up and paint the smooth area black. The light output will be the same as stock since the reflector is the same size.

Stock headlights and clear corners go together.
