Hello friends, I am in search of a good headlight bulb for the last 2 years I have ran Nokya 70w Arctic White bulbs - from ebay - they have been awesome but they have finally crapped out - Looking for something new and reliable. I do not want to go with HIDS as I would prefer not to piss anyone off - I have HID fogs but the combination of both would be horrendous - I have been researching about a few bulbs listed below :

I have used several different types of bulbs over the years but one I WILL NOT use is a Sylvania Silverstar as they are complete trash. I had 2 pairs burn out in less that 1 year - complete junk

    Phillips 9006 HB4 Xtreme Power Halogen Bulbs - $30.00
9006 XTreme White Plus Twin Pack Halogen Bulbs - $90.00
    or staying with the same
    Nokya 70w Arctic White bulbs - $30.00

    Thanks

Nokya makes decent bulbs. I used to have 5000k Noykas and they were decent for what they were. For the price I guess you can't go wrong.

However, you could upgrade to HIRs.

Those look nice. Whiter halogens mean they burn hotter, which usually means they don't last as long. Any input on bulb life? I may get them, can't really go wrong for the price even if they only last a few years.

I run HIR , 9011 and 9012. They have (a lot)longer life than 9005 9006. They are very white, bright. I also run diode to alternator to boost .6 volts.

I run Phillips. Best price is amazon, i just bought 4 bulbs for my new SSEI. I've run the low beams for 2 years in my other ssei(208k miles).

NEED TO TRIM THE PLASTIC PIECES THE SAME SIZE AS THE ORIGINAL BULB.

With what you have listed I would either go with HIR's or philips xtreme power and even the philips xtreme vision.

I have not tried these bulbs out but I have seen them at pep boys.

I saw this thread about them when I did a search. I prefer a philips bulb over sylvania but that's just my preference as I run the xtreme vision.

I'm curious. A diode is basically a one way valve. It allows current to flow in one direction but not another. There are several inside the alternator to convert the AC output of the alternator into the DC current that everything in your car runs on.

I'm not aware of any voltage boosting properties with diodes. In fact, bulbs are rated at a particular voltage. Running more voltage through them certainly would make them brighter, but at the cost of durability.

Diode is a check valve but reduces the voltage by .6 volts as it flows through it. The sense voltage to the regulator is being dropped by .6 volts so the alternator puts out .6 more to accommodate.

Ruffly a 5% increase. DC motor spin 5% faster (think fuel pump more volume not more pressure). Heated seats, lights etc.... Plus 5%

Zzp sells one you can plug inline ($20) or you can solder a diode inline
